According to Activision, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare had the biggest entertainment release of the whole year, in terms of revenue! Activision noted it wasn’t just other video games it topped, it was books, music, and even movies included.
Along with yearly win, Activision also touted that the franchise as a whole has topped $10 Billion dollars in a “Life-to-date” momentum. This means that the franchise has made more money than top movie franchises such as The Hunger Games, Iron Man, Transformers, and even The Avengers.
Of course the franchise has also seen more releases up to this point as well.
“We poured our hearts into making Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare an epic ride, and we are pleased with the performance,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO, Activision Publishing, Inc. “Sales and engagement are up through the first week compared to last year. Season Pass sales are up, as well. The game has been very positively reviewed and the response from fans has been tremendous. We believe Advanced Warfare will be the most successful game of the year and we thank our fans for making it the biggest entertainment launch of the year.”
We may not officially see these numbers as Activision also noted that Advanced Warfare was the “biggest digital release of console history.” Digital sales numbers are currently not tracked by national companies.
