Electronic Arts and Respawn are set to host their first organized competition for Apex Legends, this Fall! On the line is half a million dollars! More within…
Whether you know it or not, the popularity of Esports has grown at a drastic rate. Almost every weekend, video game tournaments are being held to reward the greatest gamers with cash prizes from $10k to a cool $3 million dollars (looking at you Bugha). It’s become such a successful phenomenon, it’s forced once-ignorant parents to encourage their children to game. Thus, enforcing that us 30+ year olds were born in the wrong decade.
Nevertheless, a new Esports event is dropping into the ever-growing Esports arena. Apex Legends.
This September in Poland, Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment are coordinating their own Esports event for the uber-popular Battle Royale game, Apex Legends. Over 80 teams of 3 will be pit against each other until the final 20 are chosen to participate for the title.
Here are the rules: All teams will begin the double elimination tournament in the winners bracket. In each round, a team’s performance in a set of matches will determine whether they continue in the winners bracket, fall to the losers bracket, or are eliminated from the tournament until the final 20 teams compete for the title.
Your team wins the battle for the title and you walk away with the lion’s share of a $500,000 prize pool!
