Since announcing Far Cry 5, earlier this year, Ubisoft has promised that it will be the biggest, most ambitious game in the Far Cry series, yet. With the release of the extended gameplay walkthrough from E3 2017, including some never-before-seen footage, it’s pretty apparent that they’re not just pulling our chain.
Now, what’s also apparent is just how much more work needs to be done on Far Cry 5 before its February release date. Granted, this was just a demo but there were a lot of graphic elements that definitely need some love and care. That aside, everything that I’ve seen from the 5th Far Cry shows that this open-world resistance game is going to be one of the highlights of 2018.
Set in America, a first for the franchise, Far Cry 5 offers players total freedom to navigate a serene-looking yet deeply twisted world as the new junior deputy of fictional Hope County, Montana. Players will find that their arrival accelerates a years-long silent coup by a fanatical doomsday cult, the Project at Eden’s Gate, igniting a violent takeover of the county. Under siege and cut off from the rest of the world, players will join forces with residents of Hope County and form the Resistance.
Far Cry 5 releases February 27, 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
