Perhaps it’s because I’ve been watching a lot of Wrestlemania, in anticipation of Wrestlemania 34, but when I saw this trailer had dropped, The Rock’s voice rang in my ears. “Finally…”
That’s because after 2 years of waiting, we’re finally getting our hands on Insomniac Games‘ ambitious Spider-Man game this year! To announce the release date and all the epic editions and pre-order bonuses, Playstation released a new trailer that shows off a brand-new suit for the Playstation Exclusive.
On September 7, 2018, fans of our Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will be web-slinging through the burrows of New York City when the Insomniac Games product drops. What’s significant about this date is that Spider-man is slated to release the week before Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Considering the previous Tomb Raider game was a limited exclusive for Xbox One, this may be a pre-emptive shot across the bow by Sony.
Nevertheless, Marvel’s Spider-Man will be released in 3 different forms Standard Edition, Digital Deluxe, and Collector’s. The Standard Edition will run at the standard $59.99 price tag but won’t have all the bells and whistles the other two provide. However, there is a bonus for those who pre-order with the Spidey Suit Pack (3 new suits sporadically released), 5 Extra Skill Points, Early Unlock of Spider-Drone Gadget, a Spider-Man PS4 Custom Theme, and a Spider-Man Avatar.
If you purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition for $79.99, you get all the pre-order content from the Standard Edition, plus a one-of-a-kind custom pin for Marvel’s Spider-Man. Additionally, the DDE comes with the “Season Pass” Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps. I call it a Season Pass because it’s 3 new story chapters that will be released post-launch. This DLC will be released by March 2019.
Finally…(Read it in The Rock’s voice) gamers who purchase the Collector’s Edition for $149.99 will receive everything mentioned above and so much more.
As the image depicts, the Collector’s Edition comes with a White Spider Sticker, a Custom Steelbook, Mini Artbook, and sweet looking Marvel’s Spider-Man Statue!
While all this is amazing, I’m actually surprised that a Spider-Man themed Playstation 4 wasn’t announced in this bundle. As we get closer to the game’s Fall release date, don’t be surprised if Sony does end up revealing one. After all, Marvel’s Spider-Man is a Playstation exclusive and Sony is known for giving their marquee system the exclusive treatment.
