Funcom, the creators of the MMO based Age Of Conan, have announced a new game Conan Exiles. The new title is said to be a multiplayer based open world survival style game. The game “takes place in the brutal lands of Conan the Barbarian.”
The game sets you up as an “exile” with limited resources to get going. You are stuck in the middle of the wastelands that were ravaged by dust storms and need to find a way to build new resources. You can farm crops and build objects to survive, and you can even navigate across the vast lands. Funcom notes that multiplayer allows you to do this alone or with friends, and even come across other players in different ways.
They are quick to point out that the game can be played on public or private serviers, and it can also be played alone in single player.
“There is no better setting for an open-world survival game than the world of Conan,” Funcom creative director Joel Bylos said.
“Hyboria is a harsh and unforgiving land where only the strongest can survive while the weak are swiftly cut down. Whether it is hunting animals for food, fighting monsters and other players, or building entire settlements, we want to make sure players feel like they are really fighting to survive and prosper in the most brutal fantasy world ever.”
The game will also have Conan style gore with bones and blood everywhere. There are also great combat mechanics that enhance this nature.
The game will hit Steam Early Access this summer and will also hit consoles, but the console version currently has no details.
