UPDATE 2 : It turns out that we were correct in assuming the game was a timed exclusive. It seems as though the heat picked up by announcing the deal has forced both Square Enix and Microsoft to suggest it is timed exclusive. Square Enix did not entirely confirm it, but Microsoft has come out and stated the game is a timed deal. Microsoft confirmed to Eurogamer that the deal has a “duration” but would not state how long that duration is, or how much it cost them.
Are you thrilled that Tomb Raider will indeed land elsewhere?
UPDATE: Here is the trailer!
When I woke up this morning I was excited to see tons of great gaming news. Seeing Tomb Raider come up during the Xbox showcase was exciting, and then something brought me down. There is another Tomb Raider in the mix, a follow up to last years massive success, but it will only be heading to Xbox One. No PC and no PlayStation. Sucks right? You can read the developers full excuse below, but basically it’s the standard exclusive talk. There was no mention of it being a timed exclusive, but you can pretty much bet that’s the case, as usual.
As you can probably tell, yeah I’m a bit irratated with it. It’s hard enough to afford new consoles and the games, it’s even harder for everyone to own all the consoles. So when FULL games go exclusive, it get’s annoying. It isn’t DLC like COD or expansions like Destiny, it’s the entire core story of a game I found to be awesome.
What makes matters worse is PS4 owners got the Definitive Edition, probably wasted money buying it twice just to support the game, and then got screwed in the end. Don’t worry too much, you still get the opportunity to buy Lara Croft And The Temple of Osiris…..
Sorry, the move just irratated me. If anything it was because it wasn’t a new game. It was an already established game going in the right direction. Tomb Raider is some of the biggest memories on PlayStation, so I don’t understand the excuse either. You can read that below.
