Throughout my career in gaming, few games (not just JRPGs) have challenged me the way that The Last Remnant did almost 10 years ago. When I picked up the game, I expected it to be a turn-based RPG, similar to that of Final Fantasy. Instead, The Last Remnant featured a cruel randomized battle system that made the game near impossible to beat. Nevertheless, The Last Remnant formed an avid fan-base, so much so that Square Enix decided for the 10 year anniversary to remaster it with today’s elevated technology.
For a small taste of what The Last Remnant Remastered will look like, see the new teaser…
THE LAST REMNANT Remastered tells the story of a world filled with “Remnants” — ancient artefacts that grant mysterious power to their wielders, changing the world’s balance and leading to an era of countless frays between those who ruled, and those who obeyed. Within this war-torn fantasy world, players will follow the journey of a young man who is determined to uncover the truth.
Using the Unreal 4 Engine, Square Enix has updated the endearing characters and vast environment to wow and amaze faithful fans and newcomers. Speaking of, The Last Remnant is going to be a newcomer, itself, as it had yet to make it to Playstation 4, until now. The Last Remnant Remastered will run for $19.99 and will play exclusively on Playstation 4 on December 6, 2018!
Looks like I’ll finally get my rematch with the game this Winter.
