Square Enix Announces The Return of Their E3 Showcase

It’s been 3 years since Square Enix had a showcase at an E3.  3 years.  3 years ago, I was going to my first E3 with E3 2015.  3 years ago, Square Enix announced Just Cause 3, NieR: Automata, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Kingdom Hearts III, World of Final Fantasy, the episodic Hitman and Hitman Online, Final Fantasy XV, Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithfulness, and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.  Since that time, only 2 games have failed to find their way into gamer’s hands, Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Today, Square Enix made the announcement that they would be returning to the stage to present their E3 2018 Showcase on Monday, June 11 at 10am PT!  If history is any indication, they’ll likely have a lot to show, including the two aforementioned games!

The difference between the 2015 showcase and the 2018 showcase is that Square Enix plans to go in the same route that Nintendo started going down a few years ago and produce the showcase in advance.  That means there will not be a live presentation to attend.  Instead, everyone can stream the showcase at the same time by watching from FacebookMixerTwitchTwitter and YouTube.

In addition to Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy VII Remake, it’s likely that Square Enix will show more for Shadow of the Tomb Raider, in advance of its September 14 release date, along with possibly Life is Strange, Deus Ex, Hitman, and any other assortment of new JRPG we won’t see coming.  What is interesting, though, is that Square Enix has held the rights to the Avengers video game that we have yet to see anything for.  A showcase like this would be the perfect main event that few will see coming!

The Square Enix E3 2018 Showcase premieres Monday, June 11 at 10am  PT!  Stay tuned for more of our E3 coverage, including our annual Road to E3 content, as it releases!
