Star Wars: Attack Squadrons was a fee-to-play style game in development at Area 52 Games. It was a space combat game consisting of 16 players that featured 3 games modes, Team Dogfight, Base Defense, and Free-For-All.
The game has been in beta for some time now and the studio was hard at work getting it ready for release, but out of the blue they announced it has been cancelled. “After much consideration, we have decided to cease development so that we can focus on other Star Wars game experiences,” mentioned Area 52 Games. “We truly appreciate the time you spent engaging in the beta.”
The official website also has a thank you message left on it noting that the game is no longer being made. The game was announced in Decemeber and hit beta in January. Currently EA has not mentioned what the studio has transitioned to at all, but we can only hope this is continued in some way. On our list of games we hope EA gets inspiration from, a Starfighter title was one of them!
