It's May in Dallas, TX and for thousands of movie, TV, and comic book geeks that means only one thing. Dallas Comic-Con is about to descend upon the Irving Convention Center for a weekend of fun and excitement. This time around, fans get three days to meet the celebrities in attendance and find those rare items they've been looking for their entire life from over 30 vendors in the Main Exhibit Room.
There are many TV and movie stars participating in Dallas Comic-Con this year. William Shatner returns to give those who didn't get the opportunity to meet him last time another chance. Other Star Trek guests include The Next Generation's Levar Burton, Gates McFadden, and Brent Spiner.
Firefly and Castle fans will be ecstatic to know Nathan Fillion will be meeting and greeting fans. Firefly's Adam Baldwin will be there again as well.
With the release of Man of Steel next month, Superman is on everyone's minds. Brandon Routh, who played the super hero in Superman Returns, is attending.
Marvel Comics' movie enthusiasts have plenty to be excited about. Fantastic Four's Mr. Fantastic himself, Ioan Gruffudd, will be in attendance. He'll be joined by Kelly Hu, who portrayed Lady Deathstrike in X2: X-Men United. She's been seen recently in Arrow as China White.
Other celebrities of note who are attending include Richard Dean Anderson, Andrew McCarthy, Ernie Hudson, Kristanna Loken, Natasha Henstridge, Kevin Conroy, and many more.
Since this is Dallas Comic-Con, it is only appropriate to mention some of the artists and writers in that industry who will be in attendance. Comic legends John Romita, Jr, (Kick-Ass) and Jim Steranko (Captain America) headline the event. They're joined by Amanda Connor (Huntress and Power Girl), Jimmy Palmiotti (All-Star Western), Arthur Suydan (The Walking Dead), Mark Brooks (Spider-Man), Kerry Gammill (Superman), and several others. They'll be signing their works and many will do sketches on commission during the con.
There are plenty of activities to keep you busy throughout the weekend while waiting to meet guests and catch their question and answer panels. There are SFX Make-up Classes, adult and kids costume contests, the Cosplay Red Carpet, several Robotech special events, and the Freebie Room. The 501st Legion will give attendees the chance to Blast-a-Stormtrooper for Charity.
Dallas Comic-Con kicks off Friday, May 17 at 1:00PM and continues through Sunday, May 19. For more information on how to get tickets and the daily times for the event, go to their official website right here. Don't miss out on the most spectacular pop culture event of the entire year!
