New Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Companion Books Announced

While these companion books aren’t anything out of the ordinary for a major movie release, it’s still neat to see them officially announced with swanky looking covers and everything.  While we learned about the Rogue One prequel novel Catalyst a few months ago, we didn’t know who would be writing it, so that reveal is nice to see along with the cover.  James Luceno is the author on Catalyst, and I couldn’t be happier.

He’s written several Star Wars novels in the past, making for some of the more engaging and fun novels out of the old Expanded Universe (Labrynth of Evil, Darth Plagueis), and most recently wrote the new canon Tarkin novel.  The latter of which is interesting because the events of the Tarkin novel could easily tie into Catalyst and Rogue One overall.  Seems like a really solid choice for this book, which has now been pushed to a November 15th release date.

The other books revealed are the Rogue One: Ultimate Visual Guide, a Sticker Encyclopedia, Profiles and Posters, and a model book in which you can craft your own ships from the movie.  Aside from the Catalyst release date, the others are slated for a more ambiguous Fall release window.  My guess is it’ll hit on September 30th, this year’s Force Friday event.
