Turn down the lights and turn up the volume, The Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody, hits the stores today and this is one Blu-ray you do not want to miss. Check it out below.

We all know Queen. If you’ve seen Wayne’s World, Iron Eagle, Highlander, Shaun of the dead, or even watched a sporting event live or on TV you have heard Queen. Well, today experience Queen at home as the biopic comes home on DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K. Rami Malek pulls off a magnificent performance as Freddie Mercury.

The movie chronicles the life of Freddie from his humble beginnings as a baggage handler at Heathrow airport, to his first meeting of future bandmates, Brian May (Gwilym Lee) and Roger Taylor (Ben Hardy). We even meet the first woman Freddie loved, Mary Austin (Lucy Boynton). Most of this goes by very quickly because the focus of the movie is not the rise of the band Queen, but the tortured life of Freddie Mercury.DF 14964 R rgb

If you’ve ever heard someone talk about being in a crowded room and yet feeling so alone, that was Freddie’s life. Even though he was a very private person he always wanted friends close by, so he would not be alone. Parties, drugs, & sex became his go-to ways to keep loneliness at bay. Even though the entire story is not the most factual one of Mercury’s life, it still gives you a small glimpse into who Freddie was.

Now we all know that music is an important part of a movie, don’t believe me try finding a movie clip where the music parts are removed, I mean ALL music. You will quickly notice how some of those awesome scenes, seem so bland without a score behind it. Luckily for us all, Queen had spent years creating the music to fill in just about every part of this movie (how nice of them). From the creative styles, they used for the album ‘A Night at the Opera’, to the ideas behind the songs, “We Wil Rock You’, or the sports anthem ‘We are the Champions’.

The movie ends with Queens Live Aid performance in 1985 at Wembley Stadium. Queen's performance that day was voted the greatest live performance in the history of rock. Trust me when I say I had goosebumps after watching and listening to them perform this in the movie.
