I wanted to love The Crimes of Grindelwald more than I did. The flashes of brilliance, and excellent character work, make all of the film’s dumb decisions extra-frustrating. While there’s plenty to enjoy, the film is ultimately unsatisfying and likely won’t improve until we see where these dangling plot threads lead.
For all that, however, the blu-ray presentation is solid and well handled. There are a bunch of bonus features to keep fans happy and offer plenty of bang for your buck. If you’re still on the fence but interested in seeing the next installment, I’d suggest renting it first to see if you want to watch it more than once.
