Official Synopsis
Chris Claremont came to Marvel as a young man, and was assigned a book that no one else wanted, a book on the brink of cancellation: X-Men. Over the next 17 years, his work on the title turned it into the biggest franchise in comic book history. Forty years later, his work has been adapted into ten films, three TV series, countless video games and has become a part of our cultural mythology. But, it all started with one writer and his commitment to emotionally honest storytelling and real character building.

This extended version of the documentary provides an expanded story with more background on Claremont and his two original collaborators, Ann Nocenti and Louise Simonson, revealing secrets into what made them a great team. Viewers will also gain insight into Claremont’s childhood and see what helped make the connection between him and the series outsider heroes. There is also a look at the franchises’ films and TV shows, including Claremont’s key role in launching X-Men and his thoughts on seeing his creations come to life, from the first X-Men film to the recent “Legions” TV series and the upcoming NEW MUTANTS film.

With over 40 minutes of new footage, the VOD also contains never-seen-before interviews with Rob Liefled (Deadpool creator), Marc Silvestri (artist) and hard-core fans who share the impact both Claremont and the comics have made on them.

The feature documentary is directed, produced, and edited by Patrick Meaney. Jordan Rennert produces and is the Director of Photography. CHRIS CLAREMONT'S X-MEN is distributed by XLrator Media.

Documenting the 17 year run by writer Chris Claremont on X-Men and the universe that spawned from his work.

Chris Claremont’s X-Men is my kind of documentary. Why wouldn’t it be because this is about a favorite writer of mine and that is Chris Claremont.  I know people say they love the X-Men but my favorite team was the international team that revived the book to the fame that made it the number one book at Marvel. The documentary also has so many of the creators I loved as well Len Wein, Louise Simonson, Peter Sanderson, etc. If you were a fan of the Marvel mutant titles around this time I have to tell you it’s not just about Chris’s work but what sprung from that work and how the X-Men took over in a big way. Remember this series began other books like New Mutants, X-Factor, Wolverine, X-Force, and Excaliber. The main this that is expressed in the documentary is showing the love he had for making these characters accessible and expand the reader base. There’s a reason a lot of fans of this particular period of the X-Men. He made not powerful characters so much as he made relatable characters. From different countries, backgrounds, and cultures, he broke molds with powerful female characters and   ones that broke molds. I have to warn you because when I say it covers all of his tenure I mean all of it and that includes the breakup between him and Marvel. Granted Chris has returned to pen more tales and I for one am thankful that I get more stories from him. But this documentary is a testament to a 17 year career of bringing us this family of characters that despite the world hating them they saved it time and time again. People say X-Men was a soap opera but that is what made it great. The characters had depth and even on a team book they were allowed to shine and step out in the spotlight. This is what we need to give this man credit for and this documentary is well deserved for a career to be honored. The film releases on VOD February 6th and you should give it a watch. Then, go read some of his work.

Chris Claremont's X-Men Review

Overall if you are the least bit into the era of comics you have to check out this movie. Even in my knowledge I learned so much and enjoyed every minute of this.
