Official Synopsis
A young woman disenchanted with love mysteriously finds herself trapped inside a romantic comedy.
MPAA Rating
PG-13

Isn’t it Romantic is a film that gets to have its cake and eat it too. It lovingly makes fun of the rom-com while playing with the tropes and presenting them in fresh new ways.

Rebel Wilson stars as Natalie, a meek Architect who doesn’t believe that she deserves love. She is not even open to the idea that someone could love her even though Josh (Adam Devine) is clearly pining for her. When she gets mugged on the subway and hits her head, she wakes up in a world where all the rules of the rom-com apply. She has a gay side kick who exists only to help her, she’s constantly tripping, good looking men are always falling in love with her and a dance number could break out at any moment.

The acting is spot on for this farce. Rebel Wilson has a charm about her that really lifts this film she delivers one-liners and exposition effortlessly. Liam Hemsworth for his part is very charming as the clueless love interest that has just discovered the word "beguiled." Frankly it’s not fair that the Hemsworth can both be so good-looking and funny. Adam Devine turns in a solid performance as the smitten best friend.

When Natalie goes into the rom-com world is when this film really shines. The director (Todd Strauss-Shulson) starts using big dolly shots and the world pops with color. I’d like to see his previous film. Final Girls is a send up of the slasher genre and if it’s anything like Isn’t it Romantic count me in.

Overall this is a great romantic comedy and it’s worth seeing in the theater. You’re going to have a great time and laugh a lot. You might even tear up a bit. Take someone you love and enjoy!
