Another major actor is being added to the already star-studded cast of the Blade Runner sequel. Come inside to learn more!
In films, we’re supposed to hate the antagonist of the movie because he/she is opposed to the hero. Our sympathies are meant to go with the star of the film, even if he/she acts questionably at times. But there are times when the hero is wrong and the bad guy is right. Here is a list of six (supposed) villains who could actually be seen as the good guys if you look at the plot from a different point-of-view.
The future can be a dark and scary place, full of unknowns and the consequences of our present actions. Who will we be? What will society look like? Will we even know ourselves? Science Fiction does its best to predict what’s coming next so we can make decisions that lead us there or prevent impending catastrophe. Join us as we discuss which aspects of Blade Runner have come true and which ones have not.
Director Ridley Scott has confirmed that he is working on a sequel to his 1982 sci-fi film Blade Runner. The follow-up film will answer the long-debated question of whether the original film’s main character, Deckard, was a Replicant or not. Scott and Harrison Ford have long disagreed on this, which may be why Ford has not been connected to the new project.
Watching Blade Runner is an emotional investment no matter how many times you see it. I don't know if it's the lighting, the music, the dialogue, or a combination of all of the above. How a science fiction film from 1982 can still have that effect on me after seeing it dozens of times is beyond my comprehension. I always come away from the film with my insides all mixed together with sadness, excitement, and that warm feeling of happy nostalgia you get when you experience something you never thought you could again.
At first glance, this is a pretty silly and dumb rumor. I mean, there's just so many things about this that doesn't make any sense! For one, I'm pretty sure Ridley Scott has said that none of the characters from the original film are coming back this time around. Also, it's been pretty well reported that Harrison Ford had a terrible experience making Blade Runner. Add in the fact that Ford has been pretty hesitant to sci-fi films nowadays and the idea of Ford returning for Blade Runner 2 seems pretty incomprehensible. That said, a rumor has been circling around the interwebs (as the kids call it) this weekend that Ford will indeed be back as police officer Rick Deckard in Blade Runner 2. And, believe it or not...I actually believe there's credence to this rumor.
[Updated with fully press release] Apparently coming back to one of his earlier sci-fi films has given Ridley Scott warm and fuzzy feelings, because he's now committing to producing and directing an all new Blade Runner movie!
