It’s another episode of It Is What It Is, and B.C. is talking the MCU and Infinity War!
Ivan Vanko, the vengeful Russian bad guy from Iron Man 2, will have a connection to the upcoming ABC series Agent Carter, because his father will show up, played by actor Costa Ronin. The series will explore the origins of the Vanko’s vendetta against the Stark family, going back to the 1940s.
Samuel L. Jackson, who plays Nick Fury in the Marvel cinematic universe, has confirmed the rumors that Elizabeth Olsen will be in Avengers: Age of Ultron. He doesn't say who she'll be playing, however.
Joss Whedon has stated a partiality for the Black Widow character and has indicated that the flame-haired spy will be the central character of the sequel to The Avengers.
Reports say that Robert Downey Jr. and Disney are “far apart” regarding the negotiations for Downey’s continued participation in Marvel films. Will he be back for Avengers 2 and Iron Man 4?
Last year Joss Whedon gave us the phenomenally popular adaptation of The Avengers, which concluded Phase One of Marvel’s unified film universe. Now Whedon is overseeing Phase Two, which will begin with this year’s Iron Man 3 and conclude with Avenger 2 in 2015. In between will be three other films, as well as a possible S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series.
This past Summer was a big one for Marvel. With two untested properties (Thor and Captain America) hitting theaters as a prelude to The Avengers, it was important for those films to succeed. Otherwise they could lose much needed fans for their ultimate team-up movie. And while they were big box office draws and did well critically, Marvel’s films are still falling short. So I’ve come up with 4 ways Marvel can fix their films for the future.
On the whole, I think the year of 2010 was fairly positive for film. We saw plenty of great movies that made us visit the entire spectrum of emotions, and tell a powerful story (Black Swan, Inception, Scott Pilgrim, etc.) but unfortunately there were quite a few stinkers this year. The saddest part about some of those movies, however, is that they were supposed to be great! Some of the most hyped movies, failed. While not all of them were terrible they failed to deliver on the expected level of excellence.
So instead of a standard best/worst of 2010 list, I've decided to compile a list of the movies this year that should have been awesome...but weren't.
