Sony's adaptation of it's popular video game franchise from Naughty Dog has had a rough time getting to the big screen. It's cycled through a couple directors, been delayed and we haven't heard much about it in a long time. However, with a new video game announced (A Thief's End), the film's current director, Seth Gordon, is confident that they'll begin rolling cameras early next year. Come inside to check out all he had to say about the upcoming project!
Naughty Dog has firmly cemented their place in the gaming industry as developers who can make fun games with incredibly engaging stories and characters. Their latest outing, The Last of Us, garnered heaps of 2013 Game of the Year awards but their rise to such fame all started with the Uncharted series. Last month we reported that Naughty Dog's Amy Hennig, who was the Creative Director on the incredibly popular and successful Uncharted game series, had left the company in order to work for EA. Today, we get to find out why she decided to leave; so that she can work on a brand new Star Wars game.
Sony Pictures has been trying to bring Naughty Dog's Uncharted video game franchise to the big screen for a long time. It once had a release date and even a director, but after a bunch of fan outcry over the direction David O. Russell was planning on taking the story (which essentially amounted to it NOT being Uncharted at all), that director departed and the movie was put on the back burner. Now, however, it looks like Sony is finally getting serious about it, as they're now in negotiations with Director Seth Gordon to helm the film.
Earlier this month it was announced that Neil Burger (Limitless) would be taking over the director's and writer's chair for Sony's movie adaptation of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. Now the man speaks briefly on the movie, what he wants to do with it, and those Nathan Fillion rumors.
