He is Isildur's heir, not Isildur himself and he may be the focal point for one of the most expensive TV series of all-time. More within...
Much about Amazon's mega-deal with the Tolkien estate for a Lord of the Rings series has been under wraps, but recently we've discovered that this series is already greenlit for a 5 season run and that the total production cost for the first two seasons will be about $500 million. With Amazon shelling out that kind of dough, it makes sense that they would want the series they've invested a lot into to focus on a character most of the fans know and love.
That's why the report from TheOneRing.net makes so much sense. The reputable source for all things Middle-earth is reporting that Amazon's Lord of the Rings series will focus around a Young Aragorn.
[BREAKING] We have confirmed from multiple sources that @AmazonStudios new billion-dollar #LOTR series will open its first season centered on a young Aragorn.— TheOneRing.net (@theoneringnet) May 16, 2018
Let's discuss whats available and how this opens up Tolkien's Legendarium. A thread. #Tolkien
While Amazon declined to comment on the report, it's hard to think that this isn't true. As previously stated, Amazon is sinking a lot into this series and a character like Aragorn can bring in a bigger audience than an original or even innoculous character no one knows. Plus, before Aragorn finished the trilogy by taking his place as the one-true king of Gondor, he lived the life of a ranger and went by the pseudo-name Strider. Not to mention, his relationship with Arwin was already established by the time the fellowship roled into Rivendell. So, there is a lot to unpack with this singular character and his adventures could be worthy of the $500 million production price tag.
We'll be keeping our eyes peeled for more news about this much-anticipated Lord of the Rings series from Amazon. When news breaks, we'll have it here!
