Chef Review

Synopsis: A chef who loses his restaurant job starts up a food truck in an effort to reclaim his creative promise, while piecing back together his estranged family.

Favreau stars as a well known chef, Carl Casper, in a Los Angeles area restaurant. In one of several nods to modern times, a video of Casper losing his temper with a food critic leads to him losing his job and amassing a large Twitter following. With his reputation pretty much in shambles he sets out on an unlikely journey to reconnect with his original love for food and cooking by traveling to pick up a food truck he plans to operate. With both his son, and his best-friend, played by John Leguizamo, at his side he makes a cross-country trek to bring the truck home, making Cuban sandwiches along the way. Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr., appears in a humorous cameo; and Sofia Vergara plays his supportive ex-wife.

Chef is a heartfelt film with a lot of charm, but overall the Hollywood ending was just a little too rushed to be believable.
