His most recent roles see Gilford carving out a nitch in the horror genre for himself. The actor played one of the two lead roles in Devil’s Due earlier in 2014. He’s about to be seen on the big-screen again in the highly anticipated sequel to the surprisingly successful home invasion thriller The Purge.
The Purge: Anarchy takes viewers out of their homes and into the streets as the time has come for another annual night of legal murder and mayhem. Zach plays a character named Shane who makes his way through a dangerous city with his girlfriend Liz and a group of strangers during this year’s Purge. Will he and Liz survive the night?
I recently had the opportunity to interview Gilford as he made his way across the United States on a press tour for The Purge: Anarchy. The actor was extremely nice and down to Earth. He was easy to talk to and I immediately felt comfortable with him. Maybe it was the fact that I had read up on Gilford before meeting him and saw he was originally from my birth state of Illinois that helped put me at ease. He definitely was more a reflection of his small-town roots than he was a star from Hollywood.
Another tidbit of information some might find interesting is Gilford stars in The Purge: Anarchy with his real-life wife Kiele Sanchez. Ironically, she plays his girlfriend in the movie. He spends the entire film trying to keep her alive and out of danger. They’ve been happily married since 2012.
Gilford was gracious enough to answer a few of my questions regarding his role in The Purge: Anarchy after I attended a press screening of the movie. He was gracious enough to answer my questions about the challenges of making the film. Gilford and I also discussed what the movie might be trying to convey to its audience. “The Purge: Anarchy” will commence on July 18th, 2014.
