Adam West, Burt Ward and Julie Newmar Are Back in a New Batman Animated Movie!

Though the original Batman TV series aired before my time and was more a product of my parents’ childhood than my own, it still holds a special place in my heart.  It’s the first on-screen Batman I had the pleasure of meeting and I still remember rushing home to watch it every day after school.  I wore tape out on my VHS copy of the original Batman Movie and it’s something I continue to enjoy with my own son.

As such, today’s surprising news is pretty damn awesome.  Entertainment Weekly revealed a brand new animated movie (coming straight to DVD/Blu-Ray) that will feature the dynamic duo from the 60s back for another caper!  Better yet, the original Batman and Robin (Adam West and Burt Ward) will be back to voice the iconic characters, along with Julie Newmar’s Catwoman!

I’m stupid excited for this.  It’s a neat way to bring the campy show back for a new generation while appeasing and delighting older fans.  It’s a cool movie for the animation side of DC, showing they’re willing to try new things.  Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders hits blu-ray on November 1, 2016
