We learned last week, that WB/New Line are working hard to expand “The Conjuring Universe” as they’re calling it. On top of The Nun spin-off next year, we’re getting a Crooked Man movie as well. Our next dive into the horror franchise, however, comes later this Summer with Annabelle: Creation, another film featuring the titular haunted doll that terrified audiences in The Conjuring. Last night brought us our best look at the new film yet thanks to a new trailer:
I was mostly ambivalent towards the first Annabelle movie. It tried to capitalize on the creep factor from The Conjuring, but failed to develop any sort of interesting story to go with it. This trailer certainly makes the sequel seem far more interesting and packed with plenty of scares. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see, but it looks like a step up.
In “Annabelle: Creation,” several years after the tragic death of their little girl, a doll maker and his wife welcome a nun and several girls from a shuttered orphanage into their home. They soon become the target of the doll maker’s possessed creation, Annabelle.
Annabelle: Creation hits theaters on August 11, 2017.
