April Fools 2016 Round-Up: Your Anti-Duping Guide

While we’ve posted some April Fool’s Day post in the past, we’re holding back this year for a couple reasons.  First and foremost…we’re tired.  This day is rough for any entertainment people.  If you’re looking for legtimate news, it seems like every movie/video game source is working against you.  Since this site’s inception, I’ve been running a round-up of April Fool’s news articles to help save you some headaches.

Below, you’ll find our list of fake articles found throughout the web.  We’ll be constantly updating this post throughout the day as more come in, so be sure to keep checking back.  Let’s get to it!

Dark Souls III – The Movie Comes to VHS

When it comes to April Fool’s jokes, companies tend to make it OBVIOUS (which is nice), and it doesn’t get much more obvious than this.  Bandai Namco have released a “movie trailer” for Dark Souls III coming to the VHS.  To be honest…it actually lookins kind cool.

Dark voices have been whispering the news from the shadows, Dark Souls III is coming to your television on VHS on April 12th!  A long time ago, in a world deep in the darkest ages, hellish fiends ruled over this land. But one man, will rise up, and raise a whole lotta hell. When you pick a fight with the devil, you’d better be stronger than hell! Dark Souls III – The Movie; a brand new chilling adventure by BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America Inc.

Pixar Reveals the Ultimate Easter Egg

Pixar is notorious for inserting a plethora of Easter Eggs into their films, and today they’ve released a new video showing off the one hiding in plain sight…that no one has found.  Well, at least that’s how they’re framing it.  It’s a fun little video that ties into their Finding Dory marketing pretty well.

Disney•Pixar’s “Finding Dory” filmmakers revealed today that Hank, the film’s cantankerous octopus with camouflaging capabilities, has appeared in every one of their feature films since 1995’s “Toy Story.” “Finding Dory,” featuring the voice of Ed O’Neill as Hank, opens in theaters nationwide on June 17, 2016.

“Every Pixar fan knows that we love Easter Eggs,” said director Andrew Stanton, who also directed the 2003 Oscar®-winning film “Finding Nemo.” “And until now, Hank has been our most closely guarded secret. There are even people internally at Pixar who don’t know about this.”

Pixar is known for the hidden gems that appear in its feature films, including the Luxo Ball, the Pizza Planet Truck and A113, which is a nod to the animation classroom at CalArts, where several filmmakers attended. But the octopus—who’s actually a “septopus,” as he’s missing a tentacle—has remained a secret for two decades. “Hank started off as a bit of an inside joke between those of us who were here at Pixar in the very beginning,“ said Stanton. “But since then, finding a place for him in our films has become part of our culture, and I’m glad we finally get to introduce him properly to fans.”

Darth Maul Netflix Series Trailer

This one is legtimately heartbreaking.  IGN posted a video on their YouTube channel “announcing” a Darth Maul TV series coming to Netflix with a new trailer to boot.  Considering Maul has returned once again for Star Wars Rebels, and there are talks of Netflix making a Star Wars series, this hits all the right notes…which makes it even harder to watch.  Good job IGN, you bastards.

Zack Snyder Directing Yoda Star Wars Spinoff

Zack Snyder Helming a Yoda Spin-Off Movie

Screenrant is behind this one, and does a damn fine job of it, tying in original (legit) reports from 2013 claiming Zack Snyder was in talks for a Star Wars standalone film.  Not to mention the fact that a Yoda spin-off has been rumored for quite a while now as well.  Put the two together and it sounds downright credible.  It’s not, but they did a solid job of it.

Roach DLC Comes to Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt

What’s kind of sad about this one, is I could totally see any other game developer doing this for DLC.  While a $5 horse is a joke to The Witcher Devs, it’s something others would happily do for some extra money.

CD PROJEKT RED, creators of the really cool game with a lot of dialogues that don’t actually bore you to death, are proud to announce an entirely new DLC — Roach.  Available soon for only $4.99, the Roach DLC unlocks limited premium content — a horse you can finally identify with! Pre-order customers will receive an exclusive Roach sticker so they can stick it… on their gaming system.

We’re always listening to gamers, and gamers are telling us they are throwing money at the screen and nothing happens. That’s why we’re extremely thrilled to be able to make something happen, said April Loofs, Senior Executive Officer of Incremental Revenue Acquisition & Fun, CD PROJEKT RED.

Razer Reveals Project BreadWinner

Lauded tech company, Razer, has gotten in on the fun today, with the announcement of a new “gaming grade” kitechen appliance for all the gamer fuel you’ll need.
