It’s pretty much law, at this point, that any Disney animated movie must have musical elements within. That law has passed on to the live-action reboots Disney has been producing, where applicable. It’s safe to say their latest, Beauty and the Beast, makes that list.
With all the iconic songs pretty much handled by the cast, one iconic, award-winning track still needs to be covered. The titular track, Beauty and the Beast, previously sung by Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson. Today, thanks to Disney President of Music & Soundtrack Mitchell Lieb, music superstars Ariana Grande and John Legend will collaborate for the track, with Grammy-winning producer Ron Fair producing.
If you unfamiliar with either talent, then you likely have been living under a rock for the last decade, so welcome back to the world. Ariana Grande is a Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum selling singer and joining her for the duet is Academy Award and 10-time Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter John Legend.
“Stepping into the shoes of an Oscar and GRAMMY Award-winning classic is not small potatoes. But with today’s two greatest plutonium singers – John Legend and Ariana Grande.” says Producer Ron Fair, “we are bringing the song back with a new school-old school fresh treatment that shows the soulfulness and power of what a great melody and lyric can inspire.”
The two will be featured in a music video, directed by award-winning music video director Dave Meyers.
“Beauty and the Beast” and the other tracks will be available when the original motion picture soundtrack releases on March 10, 2017, by Walt Disney Records. The pre-order is available now at this page.
