Disney has been rather busy with teaser trailers as of late. First the trailer for The Lion King dropped and now we’ve received the first look at Artemis Fowl, the upcoming 2019 film based on Eoin Colfer’s novel of the same name:
The short teaser is largely based around the opening scene of the book where Artemis (Ferdia Shaw) talks with a fairy. The fairy warns Artemis that her kind went underground to get away from humans and that Artemis is not prepared for what he’s going to find. This dialogue is accompanied by images of human cities, followed by a sweeping shot of Artemis’ mansion. We then see Artemis followed by his butler Butler (Nonso Anozie). But my favorite part has to be the glimpse we’re given of the underground fairy city (which is bristling with advanced technology). The teaser looks amazing and I’m very excited to see this film next year. For the record, it’s been stated that this film will only cover the first Artemis Fowl book only.
Disney’s “Artemis Fowl,” based on the beloved book by Eoin Colfer, is a fantastical, spellbinding adventure that follows the journey of 12-year-old genius Artemis Fowl, a descendant of a long line of criminal masterminds, as he seeks to find his father who has mysteriously disappeared. With the help of his loyal protector Butler, Artemis sets out to find him, and in doing so uncovers an ancient, underground civilization—the amazingly advanced world of fairies. Deducing that his father’s disappearance is somehow connected to the secretive, reclusive fairy world, cunning Artemis concocts a dangerous plan—so dangerous that he ultimately finds himself in a perilous war of wits with the all-powerful fairies.
Artemis Fowl is being directed by Kenneth Branagh and is currently scheduled to be released on August 9th, 2019.
