Earlier this month we reported on Ben Affleck’s hesitation to get to work on the solo Batman film. Was that just Ben firing a warning shot to Warner Brothers to stay out of his business and let him get to work on his film his way? Maybe it was, we may never know. However, if it was, looks like WB has maybe backed down? I am a firm believe of where there is smoke, there is fire. And I think after that shot, WB maybe went to Ben and told him not to worry and to make his film. Why do I think that? Well Affleck has seemed to confirm that everything on The Batman solo film is good to go, with him in the directors seat.
This week Ben made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel to promote his new film Live By Night. Ultimately as always the conversation turned to Justice League, Batman, and his involvement in the Solo Batman film. Much to Sad Affleck’s chagrin. Kimmel brings up the recent Justice League photo that can be seen here.
However as the conversation turned to Batman and his recent comments, Ben was quick to let us know it was happening with him, but that we needed to chill out on the whole situation. Affleck said:
“I’m gonna direct the next Batman, we’re workin’ on it. It’s one of those things that’s really frustrating because like with Live by Night, it took me a year and a half to write it and get it ready and I worked really hard, it’s just nobody gave a shit. No one was like ‘Where’s Live by Night?!’ But with Batman I keep getting the like, ‘Where’s the fucking Batman?!’ and I’m like ‘Bro I’m workin’, give me a second!”
I do feel kinda bad. Let the man enjoy his newest project that he is excited about. Be excited for him! Let Batman come organically! Needless to say though, at least his doubts seem to have gone away and he will be directing The Batman. Here is the entire clip.
