Ben Kingsley has been teasing fans for weeks with the announcement that he has reunited with Marvel for an unspecified project. He said:
“It’s a secret Marvel project. I’m not allowed to say any more, you’re going to have to wait and see. I was with many members of the crew that were involved in Iron Man 3. It was lovely to see them again. It was great to be with this wonderful family. I think they have enormous taste as creative artists. There’s nothing lazy or gratuitous about their work. They are at the top of their game, and they’re great company to keep.”
Now it’s been revealed to Latino Review that the “secret Marvel project” is another one-shot Marvel short film, similar to the recent Agent Carter short film. This film will reveal that the fake Mandarin from Iron Man 3, played by Oscar-winner Ben Kinsley, was a copy of the REAL Mandarin, and Aldrich Killian based his imposter on a real criminal. The Real Mandarin is furious with Killian and Kingsley’s character Trevor Slattery for the mockery they made of the real Mandarin’s reputation. Now the real Mandarin wants to set the record straight and he is looking for Slattery.
This short film is most likely a response to the fan furor about the way the makers of Iron Man 3 treated Iron Man’s arch enemy. Marvel/Disney is back-peddling on their unpopular Mandarin plot-twist. There’s no word yet on who will be playing the real Mandarin, but whoever it is, he may play a part in future Iron Man films (if any) or possibly show up in a future Avengers film.
What do you think about Marvel “fixing” the Mandarin plot twist?
