X-Men: Days of Future Past Extended Cut Coming Next Year

If you missed seeing Rogue (the primary character in Bryan Singer’s first X-Men film), during this Summer’s Days of Future Past, you’re not alone.  Even the director lamented having to cut her role from the film, and when it was revealed last year she was cut, had this to say:

“It’s a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go.”

These things happen, but considering how many fans like Rogue, it was kind of a bummer.  Earlier this year, we’d heard that Fox was planning a Director’s Cut of the film on blu-ray that would put those scenes back in the film, and now they’ve officially announced it as the “Rogue Cut”.  Variety reports that the new version of the film will hit sometime in 2015 (likely during the Summer) and will feature over 10 minutes of new footage that would include Anna Paquin’s cut scenes plus “other characters”.

I’m excited to see it, just to see the impact it has on the film overall.  What made it to theaters was packed enough with plot as it is, so it’s not hard to see why they cut out a smaller subplot to make room.  However, there have been times (like with the extended version of The Wolverine) where a director’s cut manages to make the film’s story work better.  We’ll have to wait a while to find out if that’s the case with Days of Future Past, but the regular Blu-Ray/DVD will be hitting on October 14th, so at least we can still enjoy that.

Are you guys interested in seeing the Rogue Cut of X-Men: Days of Future Past or are you perfectly happy with what we got this Summer?
