Chris Nolan in Talks to Direct All Out Sci-Fi Film Interstellar Next

THR got the exclusive that Chris Nolan is currently in negotiations to helm WB and Paramount’s upcoming sci-fi flick, Interstellar; which just so happens to have been written by his brother and long-time collaborator, Johnathan Nolan.  With that said, more than likely we’re looking at his next project.  I don’t see him turning it down.  Here’s what the film is describe as:

The story involves time travel and alternate dimensions, and sees a group of explorers travel through a wormhole. The script is based on scientific theories developed by Kip Thorne, a theoretical physicist, gravitational physicist and astrophysicist at Caltech.

Yeah…that’s about as sci-fi as it gets, which has me incredibly excited.  I’m a big science fiction geek and I’ve been very impressed with just about all Nolan has directed so far.  I think this is a good pairing.  Obviously he understands the sci-fi genre (just look at Inception) and it sounds like the kind of idea that would appeal to him.

Apparently the negotiations have been taking place over the last few months, and at one point this was actually a Steven Spielberg project.  There’s no telling if he’ll still be involved in the film in some way, especially since he’s put Robopocalypse on hold now.  Either way, I’m excited and interested to learn more about it.  How do you guys feel?
