Christoph Waltz Could Be Set to Reprise Role in Bond 25

It looks like Blofeld is back! Despite previous denials, Christoph Waltz may actually be returning for the upcoming Bond 25 film. More within…

When Bond 25 was announced, Christoph Waltz seemed sure that his days playing opposite 007 (Daniel Craig) were over. However, it appears the man who portrayed the mysterious mastermind of SPECTRE, and James Bond‘s adoptive brother, Blofeld will indeed be returning for the untitled 25th Bond film.

In a tweet from The Daily Mail‘s avid James Bond reporter, Baz Bamigboye, it looks like Waltz was seen at Pinewood Studios, where Bond 25 is currently being filmed.

This news confirms rumors made back in April when The Playlist‘s Rodrigo Perez went on the 007 podcast, Words Are Not Enough. On that podcast, Perez spoke about the likelihood of Blofeld returning to 007. It appears he wasn’t wrong.

While it exciting that James Bond‘s estranged adoptive brother will be returning, it doesn’t look like he’ll play a major role in the film. With Rami Malek confirmed as the villain, it may be that Waltz’s time on set will merely serve as a cameo to further extend the thread that ties the films together.

Our friends at Slashfilm report that “we’ll see Blofeld in a Silence of the Lambs-esque scene where Lea Seydoux‘s character visits him in prison in order to learn more information about the new villain played by Malek.”

If that’s the case, that will be NUTS.

Bond 25 is set to arrive in theaters April 8, 2020.
