Filming for DC’s SHAZAM is underway in Toronto. For weeks now we have been getting snapshots of the suit on set from paparazzi, or extra’s trying to be a hero. The reception has been rather mixed, maybe a little more on the negative side. However, this morning the studio is giving us our first official look at the film. Not exactly what we are all hoping for, not a look at the suit, or SHAZAM in action, but the logo for the newest DC film. Take a look:
The logo was released via the official twitter account. It definetly has a new look when compared to BvS, Man Of Steel, Justice League, and Wonder Woman. Vibrant colors, up beat feel, much like the hero himself. SHAZAM! will tell the tale of Billy Batson, a young boy who can turn into an adult superhero by shouting “SHAZAM!“. Asher Angel plays Billy, while Zachary Levi will play the superhero counter part.
The film will also star Mark Strong as the villain Dr. Thaddeus Sivana, with Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans, and Ron Cephas. The official synopsis reads:
“We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).”
The Official Twitter Account also revealed that the marketing for the film is already revving up. On March 21st, Entertainment Weekly will be on Facebook Live from the set of SHAZAM! with the cast. SHAZAM! hits theaters on April 5th 2019
