Edward Norton is not the Hulk in The Avengers..but he’d like to be

It looks like Footloose isn’t the only film project hiring unknown actors for principle character positions.  Most of the other roles are being reprised by their former players.  We have Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Chris Hemsworth as Donald Blake/Thor, and Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America.  I would venture to say that most people thought Edward Norton would surely come back as Bruce Banner/The Hulk, but it is simply not so.

You are probably thinking what I am thinking at this point.  One word..  Why?  Of course there is always the possibility that Norton refused in order to do bigger and better things, but HitFix reports a different story.  According to their sources, Whedon and Norton had a meeting concerning the project and reported enthusiastically to Marvel.  However, when it is all said and done, a possible deal that could have rounded out an already incredible cast was not meant to be.

Whether the movie was budget or not, your guess is as good as mine on this one.  Perhaps answers will be given at Comic Con, which is coming up in a couple weeks.
