The End of the World is easily one of my most anticipated movies of next year. Based on the short film Jay and Seth Vs. the Apocalypse, The End of the World serves as Seth Rogen’s directorial debut (or co-directorial debut I guess, since he’s tackling the film with his frequent collaborator Evan Goldberg). Even though I’m curious to see Seth Rogen stretch his directing chops, the real reason I want to see The End of the World is simply its amazing cast.
Honestly, this is one of the best cast I’ve seen this side of Gary Marshall. Let me just run it down for you: Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, James Franco, Aziz Ansari, Jonah Hill, Rihanna, Jason Segel, Michael Cera, Emma Watson, Paul Rudd, Danny McBride, David Krumholtz, Martin Starr, Mindy Kaling, and Craig Robinson. That just astounds me that Rogen could assemble this kind of cast. It’s the Judd Apatow equivalent of New Year’s Eve! Below is the first three pictures from the set of the film, showing the cast reacting to something…well, quite shocking.
The mere fact that all these people are in the same movie just stupifies me. Even better, they’re playing themselves! In a nutshell, the film is about this particular group of celebrities attending a party at James Franco’s house, and then the apocalypse begins. Kind of a buzzkill, if you ask me. Regaurdless, I can’t wait to see how the movie pans out when it hits theaters on June 14, 2013.
