I’ve always had a fondness for Winnie the Pooh and all his antics, and now that I have a child I once again find myself getting into the character again. It’s been a long time since Pooh has had a feature movie that actually went into theaters, and that just feels like a shame. I’m glad to see he’ll be making a return, and I’m ecstatic that it’s in a normal animation style.
Don’t get me wrong, CG is cool and all, but it’s not for every project. Classic characters like this need to stay in the style that once had made them so popular and lovable. The voice cast brings back Jim Cummings (who has voiced Pooh and Tigger since 1988), and brings in Craig Ferguson for the Owl, Tom Kenny as the Rabbit, and Gilbert Gottfried (yes you read that correctly) as Marley. The director’s not too shabby either, as they’ve brought in Stephen Anderson (Meet the Robinsons) to handle Pooh’s return.
Personally I’m looking forward to seeing this when it hits theaters July 15th, 2011 and these new pictures bring back some good old memories.
It appears that just as I was in the process of posting this news, the official trailer for the film snuck it’s way onto the internet. I have to say the trailer looks simply amazing and at one point, I really thought I was getting choked up (must have been the damn song!). Watch it and see for yourself.
