Despite the reviews for Cars 2, my faith in Pixar isn’t shaken. Hell, any studio gets a chance to mess up, just so long as it doesn’t become a habit. The truth is, they still have a far better track record than any other studio out there. But even before all of that mess came out, I’ve been intensely interested in Brave.
First off, it’s another original story from Pixar, and not some sequel. Second, it takes place in a more fantasy setting, which is something we haven’t really seen Pixar do much of, and for which I’m very interested to see how they tackle it. Should be an amazing return to greatness for them.
Sadly the teaser just doesn’t give out a whole lot of info. It’s cool, sounds neat, but doesn’t give off much in terms of the story. Though it does hint at a darker tone and story, which would also be great. While I love my Pixar movies, I would also enjoy something a little older from them. Anyway, what are your thoughts? Excited? Put off by Cars 2?
Here’s the official Synopsis:
Brave is set in the mystical Scottish Highlands, where Merida is the princess of a kingdom ruled by King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). An unruly daughter and an accomplished archer, Merida one day defies a sacred custom of the land and inadvertently brings turmoil to the kingdom. In an attempt to set things right, Merida seeks out an eccentric old Wise Woman (Julie Walters) and is granted an ill-fated wish. Also figuring into Merida’s quest — and serving as comic relief — are the kingdom’s three lords: the enormous Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), the surly Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson), and the disagreeable Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane).
Brave is set to release in June 22, 2012.
