The last few weeks have given movie lovers a plethora of great trailers to enjoy as they look ahead to the new year. Today brings about another exciting trailer that fans of Blade Runner have been waiting a long time to see:
While this trailer doesn’t give us a whole lot of plot information (we still have 10 months to go after all), it does a great job of setting the tone, sucking us back into that science fiction landscape, and teasing some rough times ahead. I’m digging it. Along with this morning’s trailer, we also get a plot synopsis that sounds oddly familiar…
Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.
Swap out a couple words and a character, and this could easily be a synopsis for The Force Awakens. Not that it’s a bad thing, just saying. Blade Runner 2049 hits theaters on October 6, 2017.
