Fox Gives The Predator and Alien: Covenant Release Dates

While I’m excited at the prospect of more Marvel movies from Fox, I have to say this pair of release dates has me much more excited.  I grew up on the old science fiction creature features Alien and Predator, and am eager to see those franchises continue into the next generation.

Just the other week, we got our first teasing image of The Predator, signifying that something was finally moving forward on the project.  Now, we can mark our calendars for March 2, 2018.  For the moment, The Predator is mostly alone on that date, sharing it only with an unnanounced WB Event movie (possibly San Andreas 2).  Other than that, however, it has some room to itself.  Considering how busy the Summer schedule is anymore, I’m happy to see this sci-fi movie come out in a different season.  Perhaps it won’t get buried this way.

If you need your monster fix before that, however, you’re in luck.  Fox has set Ridley Scott’s Prometheus sequel, Alien: Covenant to hit theaters on August 4, 2017.  Covenant is supposed to begin shooting in April, and will take place about 10 years after the events of Prometheus.  Either way, I couldn’t be happier to see these films at the point in production where we can get a solid release date for them.

Which film are you looking forward to most?
