Back in 1986, Midway Games released one of the iconic arcade games ever in Rampage. Despite its popularity, few could’ve ever divined that their destruction-based arcade game would become a big-budget major motion picture with probably the biggest box office draw playing the lead, in Dwayne Johnson. Fast forward 32 years later, and that’s exactly the reality we’re living in, as Warner Bros. has released another trailer in anticipation for Rampage’s April 20 release date!
Primatologist Davis Okoye (Johnson), a man who keeps people at a distance, shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, silverback gorilla who has been in his care since birth. But a rogue genetic experiment gone awry mutates this gentle ape into a raging creature of enormous size. To make matters worse, it’s soon discovered there are other similarly altered animals. As these newly created alpha predators tear across North America, destroying everything in their path, Okoye teams with a discredited genetic engineer to secure an antidote, fighting his way through an ever-changing battlefield, not only to halt a global catastrophe but to save the fearsome creature that was once his friend.
Compared to the previous trailer, this one gives us more of the giant monster battle, which will likely be the climax of the film. Other than that, the trailer gives way to a lot more comedic and heartfelt moments than its predecessor. However, the most important takeaway from this second trailer is that suped-up wolves are able to glide like flying squirrels.
Rampage releases April 20, 2018!
