Okey-dokey folks, if you’re looking to avoid spoilers…I’m not entirely sure why you clicked on the article. Suffice it to say, if you want the new Jurassic World dinosaur, the D-Rex or Indominus Rex, to be a surprise then you should just go ahead and turn away now.
Still here? Okay, let’s take a look at this thing, which was revealed thanks to a leak on some upcoming promotional items (looks like party plates and cups):
Yeah, that’s a pretty intense looking dinosaur and roughly pretty similar to the concept art that leaked out a while ago (when it was still being referred to as Diabolus Rex). I’m pretty happy with it, as it still looks like what you’d expect of dinosaurs (in the movies at least), and isn’t a drastic departure from what we’ve seen in Jurassic Park previously. It’s more like a T-Rex/Velociraptor on steroids and the result is about as frightening as you’d think.
The only problem here is that the promo pics here give us no sense of scale. So it’s hard to see just how intimidating it can be. From the brief glimpses we saw in the teaser trailer, the Indominus is rather large, so it’ll be nice to see it in action completely. Jurassic World will have a TV spot at this year’s Super Bowl, and I’m crossing my fingers a more official reveal of the new dino will happen then. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see!
Jurassic World hits theaters on June 12, 2015. What do you guys think of the new dinosaur’s look? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
