Do you ever sit back and wonder, “What if Kaijus were wrestlers?”. If you said yes, your name is probably Vince McMahon. Well if you are indeed the eccentric billionaire (thank you for being a loyal reader), you’re about to get your wish. A new animated film from Paramount Animation, in association with WWE Studios, explores that very idea.
This is the first trailer for Rumble.
In a world where monster wrestling is a global sport and monsters are superstar athletes, teenage Winnie seeks to follow in her father’s footsteps by coaching a loveable underdog monster into a champion.
At first glance, the overall story of Rumble seems like it’s one that’s been done over and over again. Underdog fighter comes from nothing, trains hard, works his way up to the champion, and achieves ultimate glory. However, the kicker here is that it’s giant monsters doing the fighting, rather than humans (or Robots in the case of Real Steel).
In addition to today’s trailer, Paramount Animation also released the poster for the upcoming animated film.
Rumble stars Will Arnett, Terry Crews, Geraldine Viswanathan, Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i, Tony Danza, Becky Lynch, Susan Kelechi Watson, Stephen A. Smith, Jimmy Tatro, Ben Schwartz and Michael Buffer. It’s set to release next year on January 29, 2021.
