Hellboy Reboot In Talks With Stranger Things Star; Aims for R-Rating

Everyone’s favorite demonic comic book hero is on his way back to the big screen with a different production company and potentially a new lead actor playing the titular character and a new director.  Millenium is currently in talks with producers Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin to produce an R-rated reboot of Hellboy.

As of now, the Hellboy reboot has a working title of Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen.  It even has a script written by Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola.  All it needs now are its Director-Star combo!

A few years removed from Guillermo Del Toro and Ron Perlman‘s stint with the Dark Horse Comics character, the team behind the reboot is eyeing a new Director-Star combo in horror-director Neil Marshall (Game of Thrones, The Descent) and everyone’s favorite cop from Stranger Things, David Harbour.

Millenium would be the 3rd production company to produce a Hellboy movie since 2004.  Sony had the first crack at it 13 years ago, but failed to maintain the rights for a sequel.  Universal then took over and we got the mess that was Hellboy and the Golden Army.

Perhaps Hellboy just needs a fresh start and an R-rating for it to be able maintain success, at least that’s what Mignola and Millenium are surely banking on.
