This morning brings the first, unsettling, trailer for Charlie Kaufman’s I’m Thinking of Ending Things, showing the surreal horror coming to Netflix next month.
Up to this morning’s trailer, I can honestly say I knew nothing of this film, nor the book it’s based on. After today, however, I’m Thinking of Ending Things has shot up near the top of my “must see” list this year:
There’s a lot to love in this trailer, even if so much of it seems bonkers and out of this world. Despite the ethereal elements, the the tone is decidedly clear and the sense of something being wrong and ominous is ever present. Definitely excited to check this one out when it drops on Netflix.
Despite second thoughts about their relationship, a young woman (Jessie Buckley) takes a road trip with her new boyfriend (Jesse Plemons) to his family farm. Trapped at the farm during a snowstorm with Jake’s mother (Toni Collette) and father (David Thewlis), the young woman begins to question the nature of everything she knew or understood about her boyfriend, herself, and the world.
I’m Thinking of Ending Things hits Netflix on September 4, 2020.
