Donnie Yen is back as the iconic Ip Man for a fourth film, The Finale, which now has a release date and teaser trailer to enjoy.
Despite it’s loose (very loose) interpretation of history in regards to the real martial arts master who trained Bruce Lee, I’ve loved this series of films. Donnie Yen is impressive and the fight sequences are consistently memorable. They’re just a lot of fun to watch.
As such, I’ve been looking forward to the fourth, and final, film in the series. Today, Well Go USA have announced the North American release of the film, along with a brief teaser of what’s to come:
While the teaser doesn’t offer much, it’s nice to know we’ll have the option to see Donnie Yen kicking all manner of ass on Christmas Day (the way God intended). Of course it’ll be a limited theater release, but if you love martial arts flicks I encourage you to find one that’s playing it nearby.
Ip Man’s life remains unchanged after his wife’s death, but he and his son are slowly drifting apart. To seek a better future for his son, Ip Man decides to travel to the U.S. only to find the stable, peaceful life abroad is only skin deep. Underneath lies a deep rooted racial discrimination that is far worse than he has expected. Ip Man re-examines his position and ponders on the reason he took up martial arts in the beginning.
Ip Man 4: The Finale hits theaters on December 25, 2019.
