It Director Wants to Head Live Action Robotech

Hollywood teases me at times. Robotech is a series that helped anime get it’s foothold in the U.S. Based off the series Super Dimension Fortress Macross, Super Dimension Calvary Cross, and Genesis Climber Mospeada to make a new series with a connective history between the shows that did not have anything to do with each other. And I’ll be damned it worked. I was a huge fan of the show because it was honestly one of the best stories on TV at the time and the animation just made it worth watching.

Back in 2007 it was the beginning of talks to bring the series to the big screen in live action or some other form because planes that transform into robots and a form between the two, that’s gerwalk to you the uninformed masses. I ask you, take your favorite fighter jet movie like Top Gun, Iron Eagle, or Stealth, okay maybe not the storyline of Stealth  think Independence Day instead.

Well now I have hope because Muschietti will be bringing along his creative partner Barbara Muschietti and producers Mark Canton and Gianni Nunnari to head the film. Sony got the live action rights back in 2015 and had been pursuing James Wan but he backed out in favor of Aquaman. Also Frank Agrama founder of Harmony Gold will also be connected to the series.

As a fan of this series I would love to see this happen and after ten years of hearing about it I hope it finally comes to fruition. If we get any word you can best believe I will be writing about it. No other persons are attached to the project at this time.
