It’s a Battle of In-Laws in New Maleficent: Mistress of Evil Trailer

An all new trailer for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil has arrived, giving us our best look yet at the new story and plenty of action.

Hot on the heels of yesterday’s first trailer for the live-action Mulan, this morning brings us a new look at the Maleficent sequel, and it’s pretty swanky:

While I’m not normally huge on fairy tale stories, I really enjoyed how the first Maleficent (which kicked off the live-action remakes for Disney) was handled. It changed up the formula quite a bit, and now we get to see what comes NEXT.

This morning’s trailer gives us more info on the overall story this time, showing that Michelle Pfeiffer’s character isn’t as “wholesome” as she wants people to think. Couple all that with some impressive looking fantasy action pieces and my interest in Mistress of Evil has shot up pretty significantly.

The years have been kind to Maleficent and Aurora. Their relationship, born of heartbreak, revenge and ultimately love, has flourished. Yet the hatred between man and the fairies still exists. Aurora’s impending marriage to Prince Phillip is cause for celebration in the kingdom of Ulstead and the neighboring Moors, as the wedding serves to unite the two worlds. When an unexpected encounter introduces a powerful new alliance, Maleficent and Aurora are pulled apart to opposing sides in a Great War, testing their loyalties and causing them to question whether they can truly be family.

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil arrives in theaters on October 18, 2019.
