Frankly, this isn’t news I was expecting to wake up to. In fact, I don’t know that I was ever expecting to see Jeepers Creepers 3 come to fruition. If anything, I expected the franchise to ‘reboot’ at some point down the line, but never get the sequel fans had been asking for. Strange things happen every day, apparently, and lo and behold Jeepers Creepers 3 is finally moving forward.
The original writer/director Victor Salva is returning once again to helm the third film, with Jonathan Breck also returning to once again portray the demonic monster from which the film gets it’s name. Newcomer to the franchise Brandon Smith will be playing Sergeant Tubbs, who’s part of a task force charged with destroying the Creeper once and for all. Of course this means there will be plenty of people for the Creeper to eat/tear apart, while Salva promises revelations about the monster:
“Writing and directing a new Jeepers film, the first in over a decade, is incredibly exciting. For me and I believe for Jeepers fans all over the world that have been asking for more…What will go before cameras as Jeepers Creepers 3 is a new and terrifying chapter from the Jeepers universe. We are bringing back the Creeper’s truck, and will be addressing the big questions about The Creeper: what it is, where it came from and why it does what it does.”
The film is expected to start filming early in 2016, though there’s no word on when the film might release or if any of the other characters from the previous films will make an appearance. Considering it’s been over a decade since Jeepers Creepers 2, I’m curious to see how they make the connections between the entire franchise. Afterall, the second movie ended with the farmer staking out the Creeper’s body, waiting for it to re-awaken so he could try and kill it again. Will that come into play in the third film, or will it be looked over?
Either way, it’s interesting to see this finally get the green light, as it’s something Victor Salva has been wanting to do for a while now. What do you guys think of the news? Are you ready to see Jeepers Creepers come back to the big screen?
