To that end, this is your opportunity to jump on board with one of the fastest growing movie websites out there and to have your voice heard by both film-lovers and filmmakers. We have openings for a few positions now:
Daily News Reporter(s)/Opinion Writers – Movie news comes in fast and hot, and the flow of news coming from our studios contacts and other sources is coming faster and faster. News reporters will be responsible for publishing the latest news in a timely fashion on a daily basis. More than just the news though, we want writers who can infuse any news piece with engaging opinions, as well as be able to push out individual editorial articles on a weekly basis.
Feature News Reporter – We have many news features on the site (News Bits, Poster Madness, Trailer Madness, and Weekend Round-Up), and we need a fast working news reporter who can scour the internet and our studio resources for the best news to fit those features and publish them on a regular basis.
Filmmaker Tutorial/News Writers – Since we’re a site that specifically engages both movie-lovers and filmmakers, it’s important to feature articles that pertains specifically to our filmmaker crowd. These come in the form of news pieces, reviews of the latest filmmaker equipment, and tutorials on filmmaking. So if you’re a filmmaker and have great ideas on how to help other filmmakers, we want your help.
I’d love to tell you that you’re all going to get filthy rich and retire from your work with TMP, but unfortunately that’s not the case right now. These positions are currently volunteer jobs, but there are certain perks to writing for a large and ever growing movie site.
Our studio contacts regularly send us free movies to review, as well as give us early access to press screenings (things that we pass on to our writers). We also get press access to some of the largest events around, including SXSW, San Diego Comic Con, and most recently D23. Meaning that if you’re available and can cover an event, we’d love to get you special access to it. Dedicated writers who show strong work ethic and aptitude will be boosted up to ‘staff’ status and will then be able to earn money at the same rates that our current staff members do.
All applicants must be over 18 and be able to write like the devil is chasing you…If you think you’ve got what it takes, send an email to [email protected] or [email protected] with the name of the position you’re applying for in the subject line, and please include any relevant writing samples. Any applications sent in without samples will be sent to the corner to think about what they’ve done.
