During this afternoon’s earnings call with investors, Disney CEO Bob Chapek revealed the new Mulan film will be released in homes and theaters.
After having to delay the live-action adaptation of Mulan a number of times, Disney has announced the film will now get a VOD release as part of a new “Premium” service connected to Disney Plus. Starting September 4th, subscribers will be able to go to a new section on Disney Plus purchase Mulan for $29.99.
Not all the details on how this new premium section will work (how long is the rental good for, etc) were revealed during the call, so we will update this article as the press release hits.
Mulan will still release in select theaters where possible, so if you’re holding out for the theater experience, you’ll still get the chance. It’s nice to see them finally make a decision on how to handle Mulan, and I’m more than eager to check it out. Now I’m curious to see what else will be coming to this new Premium Disney Plus section….
