[Confirmed] Michael K. Williams is Joining The Han Solo Spinoff

[Update: This morning, Disney/Lucasfilm made the casting offiical, though they won’t discuss what role or capacity he’ll be playing:

StarWars.com is thrilled to announce that Williams has officially signed on for the upcoming untitled Han Solo Star Wars movie. Williams comes to Star Wars having played many memorable roles in both TV and film, including Omar Little in The Wire and Albert “Chalky” White in Boardwalk Empire, bringing charisma, humanity, and nobility to all his performances.

Remember when we reported the Han Solo movie had started filming? You don’t? Well here’s that article but in the midst of the filming beginning a new rumor of casting is being thrown around. Originally reported by Variety actor Michael K. Williams (Ghostbusters, Assassins Creed) is now supposedly in final talks to join this cast. And if you’ve never seen him you should go watch The Wire for some of his best work.

Coming off the mini-series When We Rise there is no news over the role he will be playing except that it will be a pivotal role. My personal thoughts, could he be playing a villain? Because I’m gonna be honest here I think he would be fantastic. Yes I will harp on about his role of Omar on The Wire because it’s hands down some of the best work done. The man has been making appearances on so many other shows after this and his work in film has been great as well. So for now it is rumored but once it’s confirmed and I’m hoping this is very soon look for updates here.

Han Solo: A Star Wars Story debuts May 25, 2018 starring Alden Ehrenreich, Woody Harrelson, Donald Glover, Thandie Newton, and Emelia Clarke.
